Northern Highlands DECA recently competed at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, and what an incredible showing!
Twelve students earned stage recognition, with ten recognized for outstanding role play performances and two receiving top test score awards. Six Highlanders advanced to the finalist round, including Top 10 finishes, and four students captured first place in their respective events, bringing home two first-place trophies for our chapter.
We are incredibly proud of all of our students for their hard work and dedication, and grateful for our advisors whose support made this success possible. Please join us in congratulating these outstanding Highlanders!

Mr. Mugno has been inspiring students in Engineering and Architectural Design at Northern Highlands for over 33 years. One of his most meaningful traditions is “Pennant Day,” where seniors proudly share the colleges they’ll be attending to pursue engineering and related fields.
Having worked with many of these students for more than three years, Mr. Mugno has played a lasting role in shaping their journeys. His dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence have left a profound impact on generations of students.

This Saturday, May 2, we are excited to host the Highlands A Cappella Festival! The event will feature two concerts showcasing 20 high school a cappella groups, along with a special performance by the professional group Black to Gold. Please see the flyer below for more details. Congratulations to our student musicians for their wonderful performance at tonight's Pop Concert. The evening was a showcase of hard work, dedication, and passion. A special thanks to Taylor Rehe for supporting these talented students.

While our students competed at DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, our DECA advisors stayed just as engaged behind the scenes, participating in professional development sessions focused on strengthening instruction, leadership, and chapter success.
We’re proud to share that NH DECA was recognized as the largest chapter in New Jersey, a testament to the dedication of both our students and advisors. Even while supporting competitors, our educators continue to learn, grow, and bring back new ideas to elevate opportunities for all students.

As a reminder, please join us on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 7:00 pm in the Northern Highlands Auditorium for a panel discussion on college admissions. Admissions representatives from Binghamton University, Fairfield University, George Washington University, Rutgers University, San Diego State University and Syracuse University will be in attendance to discuss what matters most in the college application process. Yesterday, we welcomed some very special guests for Bring Your Child to Work Day! Organized by our incredible Instructional Coaches, the day was filled with engaging activities hosted by teachers and departments across the building. From hands-on experiences to creative learning opportunities, our visitors got a true glimpse into the energy and passion that make our school community so special.
A big thank you to our staff for opening their classrooms, providing thoughtful activities, and even sharing snacks to keep our young guests fueled throughout the day. We’re also grateful to our administration for providing lunch and helping make the day enjoyable for all!
