This summer, 21 Northern Highlands students are expanding their horizons through our partnership with CIEE, participating in immersive international programs across the globe!
From Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Ghana, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and England, our students are exploring their passions through hands-on learning in entrepreneurship, engineering, architecture, diplomacy, leadership, sustainability, fashion, theater, art, language, civic engagement, and more.
These transformative experiences foster global perspectives, cultural understanding, independence, and the skills needed to thrive in an interconnected world.
We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing these opportunities and representing Northern Highlands around the world. Thank you to our valued partner, #CIEE, for helping make these life-changing experiences possible.

School may be out for the summer, but learning continues for our Northern Highlands senior interns!
Now entering its 9th year, the Career & Academic Pathways (CAP) Senior Internship Program provides students with the unique opportunity to gain real-world experience while exploring potential careers with local businesses and organizations.
This summer, our interns are working in a wide range of fields, including engineering, healthcare, nursing, medicine, veterinary science, business, finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, law, government, architecture, psychology, social work, marketing, fashion, hospitality, culinary arts, publishing, media production, sports management, data analytics, and STEM.
Many of our graduates have gone on to receive full-time employment after college from the very organizations where they interned as Northern Highlands seniors, a testament to the strength of our community partnerships and the value of experiential learning.
We wish all of our interns a rewarding summer and look forward to seeing the knowledge, skills, and connections they gain through these incredible experiences.

Our Northern Highlands HOSA students recently returned from the HOSA International Future Health Professionals Conference in Indianapolis, where they competed against more than 15,000 students from around the world!
In just its first year, HOSA has already made a tremendous impact at Northern Highlands, providing students with opportunities to explore healthcare careers, develop leadership skills, and compete at the highest levels. To qualify for the international competition, students had to place among the top three competitors in New Jersey in their respective events.
Please join us in congratulating:
-Kate D’Ambrosio – Competed in the Healthcare Photography event
-Maya Grinberg – Top 10 in Human Growth and Development
-Amelia Karcz – Top 10 in Home Health Aide testing and skills
In addition to competing, students participated in educational sessions and hands-on experiences that exposed them to a variety of healthcare careers and future opportunities.
A special thank you and congratulations to Mrs. Liz Homan, who founded Northern Highlands' HOSA chapter and serves as its advisor. Her dedication and leadership have helped establish this outstanding new program and created meaningful opportunities for our students.
We are incredibly proud of our students and excited to see HOSA continue to grow at Northern Highlands. Congratulations to Kate, Maya, Amelia, and Mrs. Homan on an outstanding year!

Mr. Meizys mailed 100 letters written by his AP US Government and Politics students to their Congressman and Senators, lobbying them with information they learned doing their final project podcasts. This is a culmination of a year of civic engagement, which included the efforts of the Supervisor of Social Studies, Mrs. Schumacher, who mobilized Northern Highlands students to work the polls in this year's elections.

What began in 2011 as an engineering project has grown into one of Northern Highlands’ most cherished traditions. Yesterday’s Annual Boat Regatta at Crestwood Lake was our largest and most successful yet, showcasing outstanding craftsmanship, teamwork, and school spirit from our Honors Engineering students.
Congratulations to championship crew members Augie Ratner and Mark Ruffolo, whose vessel, The Edmund Fitzgerald, captured the title in dramatic fashion while setting a new course record.
From patriotic performances and student leadership to community participation and spirited competition, the Regatta once again brought together students, staff, families, alumni, and friends in celebration of innovation and excellence.
As Mr. Mugno prepares for retirement, we thank him for his vision, dedication, and leadership in building the Regatta into the extraordinary community tradition it is today. His impact on Northern Highlands will be felt for generations to come.
Thank you to The Bergen Record/NorthJersey.com for covering this special event:
