Thank you to Sweet Beanz of Allendale for partnering with our DECA students at the Northern Highlands coffee cart this morning, and generously donating all sales revenue back to our school!
This partnership gave our students hands-on experience while bringing our school community together over a morning cup of coffee. We’re grateful to Sweet Beanz for sharing their time, supporting student learning, and giving back to Northern Highlands.

We invite you to the NH Wellness Department's first NHPASS presentation of the school year on Thursday, 10/29 at 10:00 AM (Virtual ).
Led by Jessica Whaley, a Mountainside clinician, this session will explore the pressures of achievement, how stress affects teens, and the connections between pressure and substance use. Parents will gain practical strategies to support their teens and keep communication open.

This informative evening will focus on how to make the most of the high school experience and prepare for college. The Department of School Counseling also will discuss building a strong academic and extracurricular profile, what colleges look for in applicants, the college planning timeline, and how to use Scoir to support your student’s college and career exploration.

Senior Internship Spotlight: Mitra!
Exploring her passion for healthcare and gaining hands-on experience in the medical field, Mitra is proving that students don’t have to wait until college to begin exploring their future careers!
As an intern at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Mitra spends three days a week learning alongside surgeons, nurses, and physicians across multiple areas of healthcare. She has observed the dedicated team in the NICU, gained experience in Same Day Surgery, and spent time at Luckow Pavilion, where she observes nurses caring for patients as they awaken from surgery and begin their recovery.
Mitra has already witnessed two loop recorder implants, a transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), and two cardioversions, gaining valuable insight into a variety of medical procedures and patient care.
Her learning extends into the operating room, too! Mitra had the opportunity to observe a procedure performed by her father, a general and colorectal robotic surgeon. She also gained insight into the essential roles of anesthesiologists, operating room nurses, and physician assistants.
Through these experiences, Mitra is seeing firsthand how collaboration, compassion, and teamwork come together to support patient care. Her internship has only strengthened her passion for becoming a nurse!
The CAP office is incredibly proud of Mitra’s dedication to exploring her future in healthcare. We can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next!

Dr. Lauren Zucker arranged a special field trip for our Critical Reading and Writing Dual Enrollment students to experience college life firsthand at Ramapo College of New Jersey!
Students toured the campus, explored the college environment, and learned more about the value of dual enrollment and the benefits of earning college credit while still in high school.

Students in Ms. Simone’s Honors Global Citizenship & Service class welcomed the founders of Tommy Strong, a local pediatric cancer charity. Tommy’s parents shared their moving story, inspiring students as they prepare to dedicate their first service project to this cause. 💜💛

Today, 70 of our students participated in two training shifts led by the Bergen County Board of Elections, preparing to serve as poll workers and support the election process in our community.
