School Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Shub, visited Ms. Duch’s preschool class today for a special story time all about gratitude. Ms. Duch’s high school students helped the preschoolers create adorable turkey hats, and together they “gobbled” about all the things they are thankful for. Happy Highlands Thanksgiving!

Northern Highlands is proud to share the success of our student-led Tunnel to Towers Walk, held this past Saturday, which brought together over 150 attendees and raised nearly $8,000 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports fallen first responder families and injured veterans.
The event was created and organized by three students in Mr. Sagliocca’s Honors Business Seminar Class—Jami Patterson, Ele Hollender, and Jordyn Hurwitz— as part of a project-based learning initiative. Their work demonstrates the power of hands-on, student-led projects to make a real impact in the community.
We thank the Allendale Fire Department, Saddle River Fire Department, and Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco for joining us and contributing to such a meaningful day. County Executive Tedesco delivered a powerful speech reflecting on his experience as a firefighter and the legacy of 9/11.
The walk included a Tribute to Heroes on the jumbotron, family activities, giveaways, and a moment honoring Staff Sergeant Joseph D’Augustine, with support from the SSgt. D’Augustine Memorial Fund.
We are incredibly proud of our students for leading with purpose. Highlands students continue to make a real impact—both in our community and beyond.
