Dear Freshman Parent/Guardian:

Good evening. I would like to take this time to remind you that Freshman Orientation is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 30. This day is designed to ensure a smooth transition from middle school to high school. Lunch will be provided. All freshmen should report to Northern Highlands promptly at 9:00 a.m. If you are unable to attend, please don't worry, there will be another orientation program for freshmen on the first day of school.

Please note, that Lors Studios will be taking freshman portraits on September 6-8 with all students during Physical Education classes. Portrait package information has been mailed home to your student directly via Lors Photography. Please submit your order via the online pre-ordering system or send the completed form in with your student during school photo day. If you did not receive a photo form or have any questions about placing your order, please contact Lors Photography directly at (908) 964-0847.

Finally, Northern Highlands prides itself on school safety and our emergency notification system. This system will be used in the event that the entire school community must be notified of an emergency or a school closing. This e-mail system is one way that you will be notified. In addition to this method, you will receive a phone message from me at approximately 7:00 p.m. tonight, August 29 as well as a text message at approximately 7:15 p.m. If you do not receive this phone call or text message, please go to our website at www.northernhighlands.org, click on the headline "Freshman Parent Info Update" and follow the prompts. Please note that ONLY the person listed as "Guardian 1" will receive a phone call and text message.

If needed, we will make corrections to our emergency notification system to ensure that all parent information is accurate. As a final test, we will send out another e-mail, voice mail, and text prior to our Back-to-School Night program.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Joseph J. Occhino
