SUBJECT: Back-to-School Night & Test of Emergency Notification System
LINKS: n/a
TIME SENSITIVE: Tonight, September 4, 6:00 p.m.
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
This email serves as both a reminder of our Back-to-School Night program as well as information regarding a complete test of our emergency notification system.
Back-to-School Night is tomorrow, September 5. Please be sure to ask your children for their homeroom number and report promptly at 7:00 p.m. Please note that you WILL NOT receive a copy of your child's schedule in homeroom. Class schedules can be found on your Genesis Parent Portal. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact techsupport@northernhighlands.org.
There is no need to report to science labs or second semester courses. Health & Wellness and Driver's Education classes will meet in the gymnasium. All band and choir classes should report to the auditorium.
Remember, parking is extremely limited so please consider arriving early and/or car pooling. Please be aware that you cannot park around the front circle or any place on campus that is not designated as a parking spot.
Finally, Northern Highlands prides itself on school safety and our emergency notification system. This system will be used in the event that the entire school community must be notified of an emergency or a school closing. In addition to e-mail notification, we have emergency notifications set for calls to go home and, if you provided us with your cell phone number, automated calls and text messages can be sent as well. Please understand that cell phone contact and text messaging will only be used in the event of an extreme emergency or if there is a power outage that causes home phones or computers to become non-operational. Once again, you will receive a cell phone call or text message if you provided us with the necessary information. Note: The parent who is listed in Genesis as Guardian 1 will be the ONLY parent who will receive a call and/or text message.
Even though we tested our emergency notification system for our Freshman Orientation Program in late August, tonight will be a school-wide test as follows:
Home Phone:
At 7:00 p.m. we will send an automated call to your home phone. To maximize our test results, please do your best to keep your home phone line available between 7:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Text Message: At 7:00 p.m. we will send you a brief text message. The message will read:
Northern Highlands Emergency Test. You will only receive a text if you have shared your cell phone number with us.
If you do not receive the automated call or text message this evening, please go to our website at www.northernhighlands.org, click on the headline "Parent Emergency Info Update" and follow the prompts. We ask that you do not call the high school office.
Thank you in advance for your understanding. Safety, security, and efficient communication are our highest priorities. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night.
