SUBJECT: AP Examination Information
Dear Parents and Students,
As you are already aware, AP testing will take place between Monday, May 5 and Friday, May 16, with a one-week makeup window between Monday, May 19 and Friday, May 23. Exams will be in-person, as fully digital, hybrid digital or pencil-and-paper tests. All AP teachers have been provided with the testing locations for their respective classes, and instructed to share this information with those students who are registered to test. We are pleased to share that all students will be testing on campus in the spaces that are familiar to them.
Before the exam period commences, students should make note of the following:
- Students scheduled for morning tests must report to their testing location by 7:40 am. Students taking afternoon exams must eat first lunch at 11:00am and then report to their testing location by 11:40am. Be advised that many afternoon tests will run past the end of the school day. Plan accordingly.
- Students who have 2 tests on the same day should pack a lunch to ensure that they have time to eat between exams.
- Students must not be late to their exams as they will NOT be permitted to test once materials have been distributed and instructions are being read.
- It is EACH STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY to CAREFULLY read through the AP Exam Terms and Conditions. Students should follow the guidance for the format of their particular exam. This website provides information regarding what to bring, and what NOT to bring, as well as details about prohibited behaviors that may disqualify students from taking the test or having their test scored.
- Students who are taking an exam that permits the use of a calculator must review the College Board Calculator Policy for AP exams to ensure that their calculator is compliant. Be sure to review calculator usage rules for each specific exam, as they do vary.
- Calculators, pens and #2 pencils will NOT be provided on exam day. Students must report to their exam with these materials.
- Students testing with time and one half and double time accommodations must use the full standard time, and then may use up to their maximum accommodated time.
Remember that students and their teachers have worked all year to prepare for these assessments. Students should make every effort to do their best work, as taking these exams qualifies students to exempt the final exam in their AP course. As such, performance on the AP exam should reflect the work students have been doing throughout the school year.
Lastly, students should make every effort to attend their scheduled testing time. These national test dates are set by the College Board and may not be changed to accommodate individual requests. Having to prepare for multiple tests on a given day/week does NOT justify requesting a late test. Should a student experience an emergency requiring that they reschedule their test for the makeup period, please be advised that makeup exams requests will incur an additional $40 fee from the College Board. Makeup testing will follow the schedule posted here on the College Board website.
