Dear Parents/Guardians:

We trust that this letter finds you doing well. Now that the first month of the school year is coming to a close we wanted to provide information on academic support for any student who may be interested.

  • A student's first step in obtaining additional help is to always see their teacher. Students should speak with their teachers to arrange a time to meet before and/or after school.
  • Also, students may find additional tutoring useful. Currently, we offer tutoring, free of charge, in the core content areas. Our own Highlands teachers are facilitating tutoring sessions in English, math, and science. Tutoring is set up as small group sessions. Tutors are available during lunches on certain rotation days: A-Days English and math; B-Days Science and C-Days study skills. Tutors are also available after school. No appointment is necessary, as students can just "drop in" in room 125/126
  • The calendar of sessions will provide you with dates and times available for after-school tutoring; after-school tutoring is in room 125/126
  • Lastly, students can touch base with their school counselor to connect to a National Honor Society student who can provide tutoring services.

We hope you find this information useful. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Title I Coordinator, Robin Burton at TitleOne@northernhighlands.org or Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Robin Knutelsky at knutelskyr@northernhighlands.org.

Sincerely,

Joseph J. Occhino
