Ramapo College Rise Program

Northern Highlands Regional High School

Career & Academic Pathways - Ramapo College Rise Program

Overview:

Students in grade 12 may participate in this program. Applications are due 4/1 for fall semester, 12/1 for spring semester, and 4/1 for summer semester.

Through a partnership with Ramapo College of New Jersey, Northern Highlands will allow qualified students to enroll in courses during their senior year at Ramapo College that not only will satisfy Northern Highlands graduation requirements, but also will allow students to earn college credit. It is the responsibility of the Northern Highlands student to review the final schedule with the appropriate counselors at both Northern Highlands and Ramapo College of New Jersey to make sure all courses taken meet high school requirements.

The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible to attend Ramapo College of New Jersey: 1) A cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better after junior year at Northern Highlands; 2) Pass all portions of the assessment(s) required by the State of New Jersey for high school graduation; 3) Achieve qualifying test scores on the SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer prior to June of junior year.  Any online and/or seated college class will be weighted as an Honors course. This program offers up to four (4) college credits at a reduced Northern Highlands tuition rate.

There are two applications associated with this program: a Ramapo College Rise application and the Northern Highlands Advancement/Enrichment course request application (see links below). Students who meet the program's criteria should first complete the appropriate Ramapo College Rise application. Once the appropriate course is determined, students then should complete the NH Advancement/Enrichment course request application. It is the responsibility of the student to confirm course enrollment and provide an official transcript to both the Career & Academic Supervisor and the Director of School Counseling to ensure the student transcript reflects the coursework and the final grade. Any costs incurred as a result of an online and/or seated course will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian. The Board of Education will not assume any responsibility for any fees associated with this program.

Prerequisite: Prior administrative approval by the Career & Academic Pathways Supervisor, Department Supervisor, Director of School Counseling, and Principal must be obtained before enrolling in any online and/or seated course.
