• Role of the School Social Worker

      A School Social Worker is a trained professional who helps students maximize their success in school. They work with students who might be experiencing social/emotional, academic or behavioral issues. School Social Workers work together with students, teachers, other school faculty and families to develop and implement strategies that will enhance students' school success.

       Some of the services provided by School Social Workers are: individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, behavioral interventions and assessments, referrals to community agencies, and consultation with school faculty and families. In addition, School Social Workers can serve as case managers for students who receive special education and related services.
