    Junior Health
    This course is designed to help students recognize an emergency situation.  An emergency situation is one that demands immediate action.  The goal of this course is to train students in the basics of first aid that will help them recognize and respond to any emergency appropriately.  Their response may help save lives.  The second half of senior health is college life.  We will discuss topics including admissions, campus security, drugs and alcohol, financial aid, time management, etc.  This course will help students feel the reality of life’s decisions. Each class period you must be prepared with a notebook, writing utensil and any other material required for the class.  If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to check schoolwires for any missed work.

                    In this day and age, people need to know what to do in an emergency until medical help arrives.  Whether at home, work, school, or in your community, being able to lend assistance can make a difference.  Since you, the Citizen Responder, are the person most likely to be first on the scene of an emergency, it is important that you know how to recognize emergencies and how to respond.   This course will prepare you to make appropriate decisions regarding first aid care and to act on those decisions.


    After completing this course, you should be able to:

    • Recognize when an emergency has occurred
    • Follow the emergency action steps Check, Call, Care, for any emergencies and Primary Survey
    • Provide care for injury or sudden illness until professional medical help arrives
    • This includes CPR, Obstructed Airways, and Artificial Respiration(child/infant
