Northern Highlands HASA Presents

The Northern Highlands Home and School Association is pleased and proud to support the SAFE Homes initiative. SAFE Homes (Substance and Alcohol Free Environment) is a program in which parents pledge against knowingly serving alcohol to minors in their home. The SAFE Homes program allows participants to benefit from the support of other parents who have taken also taken a stand against underage drinking and drug use. This is a program designed to support the NHRHS administration’s zero tolerance policy on drug and alcohol abuse.

Originally, SAFE Homes was sponsored the Northern Highlands Parents Network and has been a resource available to all of our families for years. At first, interest in this initiative was modest, only families who pledged their support were informed of who was participating, and many did not take full advantage of what this program had to offer. Since then we have rededicated ourselves to the SAFE Homes initiative and the results have been promising.

Now under the direction of our Home and School Association, SAFE Homes has been rejuvenated and continues to grow.  Currently, approximately 915 families have pledged their support to this cause, which represents 87% of the families with students enrolled at Northern Highlands. The names of participating families can be found in the 2011-2012 HASA Directory. Please use the directory as a resource to ensure that your child is in a safe environment.

Thank you to those who have pledged their support to this worthwhile cause. To those who haven’t, it’s not too late; please assist us in helping us make our community safer for our children and click on the tab to the left of the screen for a pledge form.  Remember, there are severe and far reaching legal consequences for parents who willingly allow underage drinking and drug use. In addition, this initiative is supported by all four of our police departments, municipal alliances, and borough councils.

For your convenience, pledges will last for the duration of your child’s stay at Northern Highlands, so there is no need to pledge your support more than once.  For related information and parent resources, please click on the tabs to the left of the screen.
